Melatonin is a hormone naturally made by the body to induce sleep mode and to help it fall asleep,A lack of or unbalanced melatonin secretion can lead to insomnia, with symptoms such as difficulty falling asleep, lack of deep sleep, frequent awakenings or early awakening,Melatonin can therefore correct an imbalanced sleep cycle and get you to sleep faster,Melatonin is very effective in fighting against insomnia caused by jet lag or shift work,For optimal effects, take before sleeping or 30 minutes before sleeping. Do not start stimulating activities (such as reading a good book or watching an entertaining TV show) as it could fight against the effects of melatonin. Do not take more than one tablet a night,For faster jet lag recovery when travelling (especially in the East), take melatonin before sleeping after nighttime during the trip towards the destination and when arriving at the destination until adapted to local time,Note: This product is high dosage; for lighter sleep troubles, opt for our 3 or 5 mg formulas.
For people with great difficulty falling asleep and remaining asleep all night,For those who wake up frequently at night and have trouble falling back asleep,For people with more severe insomnia,For those that do not notice an effect with lower dosages of melatonin.
Each tablet contains Fast release Melatonin: 5 mg; Prolonged release Melatonin: 5 mg
Dosage : Adults: Take 1 tablet once a day, at or before bedtime. For jet lag, take at bedtime after darkness has fallen, while travelling, and at destination until adaptation to the new daily pattern. Do not drive or use machinery for 5 hours after taking melatonin.
Caution : Do not use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Consult your health care practitioner for use beyond 4 weeks or if symptoms persist continuously for more than 4 weeks (chronic insomnia). For occasional short-term use in case of jet lag. Consumption with alcohol, other medications or natural health products with sedative properties is not recommended. Consult a health care practitioner prior to use if you are taking one of the following medications: anticoagulant, anticonvulsant, blood pressure medications, immunosuppressive medications, sedative, hypnotic or psychotropic medications, or steroids; or if you have one of the following conditions: asthma, depression, diabetes or hypoglycemia, cardiovascular disease, chronic kidney disease, liver disease, immune system disease, migraine, hormonal, coagulation or seizure disorders. Mild gastrointestinal symptoms (nausea, vomiting, or cramping) and rare allergic reactions have been known to occur; in which case, discontinue use.
